Behavior Secrets explains psychology in plain language — what the research actually says about how minds work, and what to do with that.
Most people meet psychology at an awkward moment: a diagnosis someone has just received, a feeling that will not shift, a relationship that keeps arriving at the same argument. What they find is usually one of two things — a clinical paper written for clinicians, or a reassuring article that says very little. We are trying to publish the thing in between.
What we cover
- Mental Health — what conditions such as anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, OCD and the personality disorders actually are, how they are recognised, and what the evidence says about treatment.
- Relationships — attachment, conflict, family patterns, and the research on why the same arguments repeat.
- Wellness — sleep, habits, stress and attention, covered by what has been shown to work rather than what sells well.
- Ask the Psychologist — questions sent in by readers, answered in general terms from published research. You can send one here.
How we work
We are a small editorial team. Articles are researched against authoritative sources, drafted with AI assistance, then fact-checked and edited by a person before anything is published — our Editorial Policy sets out the full six-step process, the source hierarchy we work from, and how we handle corrections.
We publish under an organisational byline rather than invented author personas. When an article makes a factual claim, we say where it comes from. When the evidence is thin or contested, we say that too — an honest “the research does not settle this” is more useful than a confident answer that will not survive scrutiny.
What we are not
We are not a clinical service, and nothing we publish is a diagnosis, a treatment plan, or personal psychological or medical advice. Reading about a condition is not the same as being assessed for one. Our aim is narrower and, we think, more realistic: to leave you better informed than a search result would, and to make the conversation with a professional easier to start. See our Disclaimer.
If you need help now, please do not wait on an article. In the United States, call or text 988; in the UK and Ireland, call 116 123; elsewhere, findahelpline.com lists free, confidential lines by country.
How we pay for it
Behavior Secrets is free to read and funded by display advertising and affiliate links. Advertisers have no say in what we cover or how we evaluate anything; our Advertiser Disclosure explains the arrangement in full.
