9 Behaviors Psychopaths Will Do To Grab Your Attention

LOOK OUT! Psychopaths will do these 9 behaviors to grab your attention!

Beneath the surface of charm and confidence, the psychopath hides a chilling psychological paradox: a person who can mimic human emotion without truly feeling it. Psychopaths walk among us—often successful, articulate, and seemingly normal—yet their brains are wired for manipulation, risk, and emotional detachment.

Psychopaths are naturally unable to feel positive or negative emotions. They are, as a result, deprived of the joy that normal people feel in social connections. On the other hand, they tend to be less fearful, stressed, and anxious than normal people.

From a psychological perspective, they offer a rare and unsettling glimpse into a mind unburdened by empathy or remorse, raising profound questions about the nature of human conscience and morality.

Psychopathy, or psychopathic personality, is a psychological condition that shows itself as impaired empathy and remorse, and over-the-top egocentric personal traits. These individuals most commonly go unnoticed.

Psychopaths are a hot topic in the psychology sphere, and most people are fascinated by this phenomenon. When in Hollywood movies, psychopaths can be the subject of true crime discussion; but in real life, things get more complicated than that.

These troubled individuals are generally described as selfish, power-hungry, and aggressive, as well as violent. However, it is important to note that psychopathy is a spectrum, as with most psychological conditions. As such, professional assessment is needed to establish the severity of psychopathy, as some individuals may exhibit less severe symptoms. You might feel familiar specifically with psychopathic behavior #9.

Why do people become psychopaths?

The reasons behind suffering from psychopathy are both biological and environmental. These individuals are born with brain differences and were struggling with emotional attachment and neglect as children.

Psychopathy is best understood as a neurodevelopmental condition—not just a result of “bad parenting” or “bad choices.” It’s a blend of biology and experience that leads to a distinct, and often dangerous, way of relating to the world.

Also, not all psychopaths go on to become serial killers. But all of them do inflict harm by means of a wide range of emotional and psychological abuse.

1. Flat body language

Since most psychopaths are completely out of touch with their emotions, body language in any social interaction will look flat. Expressing emotions is a natural part of communication in healthy individuals, with gestures and body language signaling connection and expression. This is not the case for individuals suffering from psychopathy.

As we have learned from infamous criminals and criminal trials, psychopaths are commonly known for abnormally underusing non verbal communication cues in their body language. And when they do it, it is fake, calculated, and aimed at manipulating the person in front of them. Here resurfaces the popular term of psycho smile.

Instead of genuinely interacting with the help of body language or other non verbal communication cues, most of them will just stare and scan their next prey up and down. So, next time someone stares at you for too long, remember it is because lack of empathy or understanding of social cues. “Stop staring at me like a psychopath!”

2. Deceitful charm

Most commonly, psychopaths are attractive and charming people. You would only have good words to say about one of these individuals at the very beginning. However, keep in mind that this charm is likely fake and deceitful. It exists so that these individuals can take advantage of the others and how they are perceived.

They can also use flattery and tell people exactly what they want to hear (which is ironical for someone that lacks basic empathy or sympathy) to get their way in any context: work, love, and life. This is because of their strong observational skills. You can catch these individuals overthinking before they say anything, as everything with them is always highly well-thought-out. This tendency combined with zero feelings results in grave manipulation that can hurt lives for those involved in the psychopaths’ vicious circles.

3. Using people for their own interests

Psychopaths do not see people. They see tools for their own satisfaction and interest. We know that human relationships are win-win mutual bonds. However, there is rather a transactional or win-lose dynamic between a psychopath and their acquaintances.

Since they lack basic empathy and cannot understand healthy emotions, using others does not cause internal conflict or distress at all. If that is not awful enough to imagine, this behavior that characterizes them is goal-oriented. They are following what they need with zero mercy for others hurt in the process.

Another master skill in psychopathy is detaching from feeling remorse, so psychopaths’ moral compass will not detect any wrongdoing. Many psychopaths are highly focused on their own desires—whether it’s power, control, money, or status. People are seen as tools or stepping stones toward these goals, not as individuals with their own needs or rights.

4. Lack of loyalty

A person suffering from psychopathy will show you loyalty as long as you are useful to them. When they get what they wish for from you, they will immediately drop you like a hot potato.

This definitely continues the endless acting and mimicking behavior. In the absence of any moral values, psychopaths will move on to the next freak episode and never see their problem. The structure of the brain and personality are differently wired for other conditions, too, for instance, bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder. However, the harm takes place specifically at a large scale and with no stop buttons indefinitely.

5. Pathological and impulsive lying

More often than not, psychopathology comes together with pathological lying. In some cases, not even lie detectors could identify their lies.

But all existing lie detectors are based on measuring heart and breathing rates. With emotion comes thought for normal individuals. In the absence of emotions, psychopaths will keep a steady heart rate and bypass traditional lie detectors. The truth may never come out of their mouth, so a specialized professional is needed to identify risks and clarify by means of generalization.

When it comes to impulsivity and taking risks, psychopaths tend to seek stimulation and are more likely to take risks, including exploiting people, without concern for the fallout.

6. Faking comes naturally

Because of a scary cocktail of shallow affect, social mimicry, and instrumental thinking, faking comes naturally for psychopaths. Another benefit supporting this solid-looking fakeness is their lack of fear responses. Based on research, individuals suffering from psychopathy do not feel anxiety the same way other people do.

7. Gaslighting technique

Psychopaths can drive people crazy by making them question their reality and sanity. This is known as gaslighting, and it’s one of the most severe forms of emotional abuse.

Religiously living by this technique gives psychopaths a sense of control and domination. Most psychopaths we have studied are driven by power and control. This way, they can also shift the blame onto the others and avoid taking accountability. The evasion of responsibility is another key sign but can mean plenty of other things.

8. Exploitation of kindness

Their everyday lives are strategic, so kindness does not make them move a finger. Psychopaths are skilled at exploiting those blinded by their deceitful and superficial charm. This happens by lying, distorting facts, and emotional or psychological manipulation.
